Scrotoss spreading!
I have to admit I'm a little jealous at commenter Adam's awesome elkskin scrots, pictured. Adam, please more pics and details! My own scrotmaking has been kinda stalled, but I've found a supplier for wicked thick moosehide and sinew lacing... I like the look (and ease of execution) of an outside stitch, and this cheapass hemp twine just isn't cutting it.Tossers, keep 'em coming!

I don't like sports with balls and sticks!
I think this is perverse!
:p
P.S. Steve's stuff shows up first in google, you should be jealous.
I love it. Maybe I could knit a pair!
Knit, huh? An interesting idea... I like it! Keep in mind a couple of engineering factors in your planning:
- the scrot is subjected to a lot of longitudinal stress -- it stretches. Even the suede I used for my first two scrots gained at least an inch in length after a couple hours of play. I suggest making the connecting strap element just a shade shorter than you think it ought to be, otherwise you might end up with a very dangly pair...
-... which might not be so bad, really; it has been noted that a strappier scrot is often easier to catch. It has more "wrap". Personally, I think too much wrap slows things down and encourages casual "handjobs" as tossers untangle the scrot.
-What kind of material would you knit with? Unless you're making a pure showscrot for display purposes (and there's not a thing wrong with that) you're going to want a tight knit with a fibre that can stand up to hitting the ground, a lot.
Toss on, tossers!

Ah, yes.
I had planned for the stretching and was thinking about using very thin kneedles as to prevent "leakage" of stuffing.
To knit a scrot to display for all to see would require a colorful and perhaps, chunky, yarn. But for practicality I was thinking more along the lines of a 1-2mm hemp string. Hemp does not stretch as much as any yarn or cotton.
It may take me a while to design, but I'm up for the challenge.

Well, then, blessings upon your work! For real.
A note on leakage: ideally, the outer shell does not itself contain the bean/sand/popcorn/whatever scrot filling. The weighting medium is contained within its own nad -- a tied-off or multi-rolled sock, a condom, whatever -- within the scrot. It's a lot more robust.
Actually, given that, a more open net-work outer shell might look kind of cool. The only problem would be shafts poking and snagging the weave...
Hm.
Welcome to scrotoss, jeans.

Thank you!
What if you sanded down the shaft? Or used a broom handle?
Let me know if I'm talking crazy here.
I've just started on an ornamental scrot to test out my pattern.
:)
Jeans
jeans, why don't you try making up your Scrot from untreated wool and then felting it.
Some more pics as soon as I get some. My scrotes are a bit smaller than your "regulation 12-inch" jobs (coming in at about 9 1/2" - 10" each). I'm still working on educating the market, but I've sent a few off to a pagan festival in Quebec with weekend and I'll have them on my table at our Pirate Festival in Toronto in a coupla weeks.
My regular salesgirl has already started with the sales pitch lines and patter. "You made them out of buttery soft elkskin and deerskin to heighten their fondleability traits, right?" has come out of her mouth... We may have a tough time keeping a straight face at this festival...
the game is called scrotoss
and you people are calling it scrot
has anyone here made the connection between scrotoss and how gay it is, throwing around a big scrotum filled with sand
Do you... do you think anybody's ever made that connection, Anon? Take a fuckin' guess.
And, anyway: the gender split of scrotossers has been about 60-40 men/women... what's gay about that?
You're being terribly sexist.
